2,139 Bathtub taps

Bathtub taps increasingly combine the practical and the aesthetic function: they are not simply mixers that allow the flow of water to be managed, but they present themselves as authentic furnishing elements, true and proper design complements. It is for this very reason that it is very important to be careful when choosing the faucets for your bathtub, so that the products you choose are able to integrate with the rest of the environment in which they come to be part of.

The types of bathtub taps

On the market you can choose from a wide range of configurations, styles, finishes and technical characteristics to be taken into consideration in order to select the tap that reflects your personal taste, while offering a high level of performance. The most common type of bathtub taps and fittings is the wall-mounted one, which is presented with a single lever mixer, i. e. with a single lever to regulate the water jet, or with the two traditional knobs that each deliver hot and cold water; flexible and hand shower are separate, sometimes also equipped with a sliding support on a rod. If the faucet is on the edge of the bathtub, the faucet spout must be mounted so that it protrudes from the edge of the bathtub, in this case the hand shower can be pulled out. The solution with column floor taps is used instead when the bathtub is freely installed and is located in the middle of the bathroom or at a distance from the wall. Made with a rod where the tap is located, it is also equipped with an integrated flexible hand shower. Choosing between a wall-mounted tap or a floor-standing tap depends on the shape of the bathtub itself, and this is where you have to start to choose the type of faucet and the design of the most suitable model for the bathtub. The space available plays a fundamental role in this case: a floor-standing tap takes up significantly more space than a wall-mounted tap. Wall mounting is usually the most practical solution when the bathtub is also used as a shower. Alternatively, you can install the faucets on the bathtub rim or on the tiles around the bathtub, thus avoiding the tap's clutter on the wall. Available in different versions depending on the number of holes, these bathtub sets combine a spout and a hand shower and, depending on the type, two knobs or the single lever and the diverter for the water supply.

Bathtub taps and mixers: design products not to be underestimated

But what are the aspects that deserve to be taken into account when choosing bathtub taps and mixers? Beyond personal tastes, which are always important, it is evident the need to rely also on the surrounding bathroom furniture already present. In any case, bathtub taps are design products designed to fit in traditional and contemporary contexts. If you prefer to mix the hot and cold-water flow independently and if you want to give the bathroom a classic touch, you can choose a two-way tap, equipped with two knobs, a spout and a hand shower. If you want to use the bathtub as a shower, you can opt for a wall-mounted shower head and a tap with a three-way diverter, to allow you to divert the flow from the mouth to the hand shower and shower head. A tub mixer, on the other hand, is particularly convenient because the water mixing takes place inside the body of the tap. In particular, the thermostatic mixer allows you to adjust the desired water temperature and keep it constant, even when the water flow is interrupted and then reactivated. The advantages are considerable: greater comfort, greater safety, thanks in particular to the protection against accidental burns and lower water consumption, as there is no need to run the water until the desired temperature is reached. Of all, recessed mixers are the most common, consisting of a wall recessed body and an external plate equipped with lever or knob and deviator. Alternatively, you can buy an external mixer, bulkier but less invasive if you do not want to do brickwork or plastering.

Bathtub faucets: the right style to furnish your bathroom

Once you have chosen the size of the battery and the type of installation, it is also important to choose the material and style of the tap for the bathtub. In the case of faucets for a classic bathtub, for example, attention to detail plays a major role: the variety of materials to choose from is very wide, and also for the shapes the opportunities available are numerous, starting from the traditional brass faucets. If you prefer a minimal style alternative, you can instead hang for a model made of steel. When choosing the faucets for the bathtub in a contemporary style, you could instead aim for a wall faucet, while ceiling or wall faucets are the most common solution for shower faucets. If you prefer more essential geometries, you can choose a modern faucet, with polished chrome, multi-purpose showers, electronic controls and chromotherapy sets, able to make the moment of bathing a multisensory experience. ...
